"Aref" is a documentary film series produced by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina titled "Aref... Your Roots, Your Future." It aims to explore the various aspects of the Arab Republic of Egypt's cultural and natural heritage from an innovative perspective. The series specifically targets children and youth, narrating stories from Egypt's diverse heritage within a simplified scientific framework. It uses a contemporary and engaging style focused on delivering interesting and reliable information.

The series seeks to strengthen the sense of Egyptian identity among the younger generations and deepen their connection to their authentic cultural roots, which extend throughout history. These films also work to disseminate knowledge among all segments of society at the local, regional, and international levels. It considers the diversity of interests and cultural and linguistic backgrounds, as the films are presented in Arabic with high-quality translations into English and French to ensure the widest possible reach.

Stemming from our social responsibility towards people of determination, we have made the entire series available in sign language. This is driven by our belief in the importance of including the hard-of-hearing community, ensuring that the treasures of our heritage are accessible to all, without exception.
