Journalism in Egypt began with the "French Campaign" and the newspaper "Le Courrier de l'Égypte." Then, "Al-Waqa'i' al-Misriyya" (The Egyptian Events) was established during the reign of "Mohamed Ali Pasha," published in Turkish and Arabic, and later became a fully Arabic newspaper under the editorship of "Rifa'a al-Tahtawi." During the era of "Khedive Ismail," private newspapers spread, and the press came to be known as "Her Majesty." With the passage of time and modern developments, electronic journalism has become the most widespread.
